True rivalries are built over competing for championships. From the time Belmont entered the Ohio Valley Conference prior to the 2012-13 season, the Bruins and Murray State had the truest of rivalries. From that first season until the two teams left the OVC after the 2022 season, Murray State or Belmont won at least a share of all ten regular season championships, and then would meet in the OVC Tournament title game five different times.
