Buchanan signs with Lithuanian team
MBB: The former Racer played the last two seasons in Israel and Greece

Former Murray State guard Shaq Buchanan has a new basketball home — Lithuania.
Today on their official website, BC Šiauliai, the team in Šiauliai, Lithuania, announced they had signed Buchanan to a one-year deal. The club competes in the Lithuanian Basketball League.
After playing for two seasons at Murray State from 2017-19, Buchanan spent the next three years playing for the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G League. In 2022, he decided to play overseas for the first time as he hooked up with Ironi Ness Ziona in Israel. Last season, he moved on to Greece to play with Karditsa where he averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 27 games played.
"He is a player not only with a wide offensive arsenal, but also with excellent defensive instincts, as evidenced by his career Defensive Player of the Year awards,” BC Šiauliai Head Coach Zydrūnas Urbonas said in a statement on the team’s website. “Good feedback from NBA scouts and positive analysis by our coaching staff allows us to expect a really solid addition. We select basketball players very carefully. We could not reach an agreement with several serious candidates, but we believe that patience pays off."
The team expects Buchanan to arrive in Lithuania in time for the start of training camp on Monday. The team’s first game of the season will be September 6th.
