Canaan, Jones face off in Bosnia
MBB: The former Racer point guards each scored in double-figures today
On Saturday in the ABA League in Serbia, Crvena Zvezda defeated Igokea 91-68. The most significant part of the game for Racer fans is that a pair of former Murray State point guards faced off this afternoon.
Hall of Famer Isaiah Canaan scored 14 points to help Crvena Zvezda win for the fourth time in the last five games. Bryce Jones scored 11 points and dished out seven assists for Igokea. The two exchanged jerseys after the game.
Canaan is in his first season with Crvena Zvezda after spending the last two seasons with Olympiacos in Greece. He is second on the team in scoring with 11.3 points per contest in ABA games.
Jones played for Murray State from 2015-17, averaging 12.4 points in his 64 games with the Racers. Playing for Igokea in Bosnia, this is his sixth professional season. Prior to this year, Jones has played in Montenegro, France, Serbia and Romania. He is leading Igokea in scoring (12.5 PPG) and assists (6.8 APG) this season in ABA action.
