Canaan suffers ACL injury in Serbia
MBB: The Racer Hall of Famer is in his second season playing for Crvena Zvezda
Former Murray State great Isaiah Canaan is out indefinitely after injuring his ACL in a preseason game just days before the start of the EuroLeague season.
Canaan was set to begin his second season with Crvena Zvezda in Serbia. The team’s official X account confirmed the knee injury, but said additional testing will be needed to determine the severity of the injury. How long Canaan will be out of action is unknown at this point.
In his first season with Crvena Zvezda, Canaan averaged 10.0 points per game and shot nearly 39% from three-point range. Crvena Zvezda begins their regular season on Tuesday when they face Milano.

Canaan, whose #3 hangs from the rafters in the CFSB Center, helped Murray State to three Ohio Valley Conference regular season championships and a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament during his time in a Racer uniform. The 34-year-old native of Biloxi, Mississippi is 5th on Murray State’s all-time scoring list with 2,050 points.
After begin drafted by the Houston Rockets in the second round of the 2013 NBA Draft, Canaan played for seven NBA teams from 2013-19. Since 2020, he has played overseas in Russia, Turkey, Greece and Serbia.
