Over the last several weeks, we’ve had you vote on who you thought were the best players in the first 100 years of Murray State Men’s Basketball. Today we begin our countdown with former Racer guard Lamont Sleets. You voted Sleets #20 on our list.
One of three Racers to earn All-Ohio Valley Conference honors four times, Sleets played on three championship teams during his time at Murray State from 1979-84. He still ranks #8 on Murray State’s all-time scoring list and #3 on the program’s all-time assist list, and he was inducted into Murray State’s Hall of Fame in 1994.
During our conversation, we talked about how he got to Murray State, overcoming a season-ending injury during his junior year, and how he hopes Racer fans will remember him.
