Fairell wants to play into his 40's

One of the neat parts of Racer Hoopalooza weekend is the ninety minutes before the event actually begins. Murray State’s Hall of Champions slowly fills up with current and former Racer players and coaches, as they get their chance to catch up with each other before the public arrives. It’s always fun to see the guys bouncing from one group to the next, sharing stories and laughs with their old teammates.

Friday night, in the middle of the dull roar of joyful conversation, a pair of former Murray State big men stood off to the side, together, sharing their own lengthy dialogue.

Jonathan Fairell and Popeye Jones may have worn the Murray State uniform nearly 25 years apart, but Fairell couldn’t get enough of his time chatting with the Racer Hall of Famer.
