Ford, Poock named to Hammon Award watch list
WBB: The Becky Hammon Award is given to the nation's top mid-major player

Murray State junior guards Halli Poock and Haven Ford have both earned spots on the Becky Hammon Award preseason watch list. The Hammon Award is given to the nation’s top mid-major player. Hammon was a three-time All-American at Colorado State and led the Rams to the Sweet 16 in 1999. She is currently the head coach of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, as she has led the franchise to three of the last four WNBA championships.
Poock and Ford, while helping lead Murray State to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2008, earned 2nd Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors. Ford averaged 14.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Poock, in her first year with the Racers, scored 17.0 points while dishing out 5.2 assists per contest.

Murray State is one of five schools to have at least two players on the 25-player watch list, joining South Florida, Richmond, Fairfield and George Mason. The Racers will play George Mason on November 28th, in Daytona, Florida, as part of the Daytona Beach Classic.
Ford and Poock are the only players from the Missouri Valley Conference on the watch list.
The 15-player midseason watch list will be announced in January, followed by 10 semifinalists announced in February. The five finalists will be revealed in early March, with the winner announced around the Final Four. According to the award’s website, the list is fluid, and players may play their way on or off it over the course of the season.
So proud of these ladies!!
