Former Racer assistant lands at Virginia Tech
WBB: Scaife coached under Rechelle Turner for two seasons
Former Murray State Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach Jauwan Scaife has accepted a similar job at Virginia Tech.
A rising star in the women’s game, Scaife spent two seasons at Murray State coaching under Rechelle Turner from 2018 to 2020.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Hokie family," Scaife said in a statement. "I am eager to get started and look forward to working alongside this incredible staff led by Coach (Kenny) Brooks."
After leaving Murray State in 2020, Scaife moved on to Utah State for two seasons where he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Last season, he returned to his alma mater, Ball State, as an assistant coach. Now Scaife is taking the biggest leap of his career as he not only takes a job in the Atlantic Coast Conference, but heads to a program that is coming off a trip to the Final Four.
"I am extremely excited to add Jauwan to our staff," Virginia Tech Head Coach Kenny Brooks said. "He brings energy and a wealth of knowledge that will benefit not just our athletes but the entire staff. He is top notch and a rising star in our profession."
In his Scaife’s first season at Murray State in 2018-19, he and the Racer staff helped the team to a 9-9 record in Ohio Valley Conference play, which was the most OVC wins since the Racers won a conference title a decade earlier.
