Former Racer assistant White gets new job
MBB: Ronrico White worked under Matt McMahon at Murray State from 2019-22

Ronrico White, who spent three years on Matt McMahon’s staff at Murray State from 2019-22, has taken a new job at Tennessee Tech. Golden Eagle Head Coach John Pelphrey made the announcement on Saturday.
“We’re excited to welcome Rico and his fiance, Caira Benton, to the Tennessee Tech Basketball family,” Pelphrey said in a statement. “Rico’s broad experience from the SEC (LSU), the OVC (Murray State), as well as Gardner-Webb, his ties to the state of Tennessee and a background as a former player (Chattanooga) make him a tremendous fit and asset to our staff, student-athletes and Cookeville community. He’s a high-character individual who is passionate about coaching, mentoring and helping young men grow.”

White joined Murray State’s staff in the summer of 2019 as the Director of Player Development. He held that role for two years, and then moved up to Assistant Coach for the 2021-22 season when Shane Nichols left Murray to join his brother’s staff at Radford. White was part of the staff that led the Racers to a 31-3 record and a trip to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Matt McMahon took White with him to LSU in 2022, and in his three years in Baton Rouge, White worked as both an assistant coach and the Director of Player Development.
Last season, Tennessee Tech finished 15-17 overall and 10-10 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles are trying to win their first OVC regular season championship since 2005.
