Four more Salukis headed to transfer portal
MBB: The SIU quarter joins Troy D'Amico and Kennard Davis in leaving SIU

The exodus from Carbondale picked up significantly on Sunday for Southern Illinois’ basketball program.
Nine days after SIU Athletics Director Tim Leonard fired Head Coach Bryan Mullins, a total of six Saluki players have now announced their intention to enter the transfer portal — with four of those coming today.
Last week, junior guard Troy D’Amico announced he was headed to the transfer portal. On Friday, freshman Kennard Davis Jr. joined him. Today, senior forward Jarrett Hensley, sophomore center Scottie Ebube, junior forward Clarence Rupert and junior guard AJ Ferguson added themselves to that list.
The Portal Report (@ThePortalReport on X/Twitter) reported the news on Ferguson, Ebube and Hensley. 24/7 High School Hoops (@247HSHoops on X/Twitter) reported Rupert’s announcement.
In SIU’s win over Murray State in Carbondale, D’Amico had 20 points while Hensley added 14. In the Salukis’ win in Murray, Ferguson scored 14 points, and Ebube and Davis combined for 15 rebounds.
Between the graduation of Xavier Johnson, Trent Brown, Chris Cross and RJ McGee, and the six players entering the portal, Southern Illinois, at this point, will return just 6.0 points per game of scoring next season. The program will be a complete rebuild for whatever coach is named to replace Mullins.
