December 7th, 1981 was an unusually warm day in South Bend, Indiana as Notre Dame prepared to host Murray State in basketball for the first time ever. While the near-sellout crowd of 11,035 jammed into the Athletic & Convocation were likely relishing the mild temperatures, they had no idea how disappointing this night would be.
