Guffey's jersey to be retired tonight
WBB: The 2018 Murray State Hall of Famer scored 1,877 points in her career

Murray State Hall of Famer Amber Guffey is about to have her jersey hanging from its rightful place — the rafters of the CFSB Center. Guffey will have her jersey retired Thursday in a ceremony before the Racers host Western Carolina at 6:00pm.
In her time as a player at Murray State, Guffey put together one of the all-time great careers in Racer history. She was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection, while also being named to the OVC All-Tournament team three times. Guffey was the 2008 OVC Tournament MVP as she helped the Racers make their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Guffey scored 1,877 points in her career — the sixth-most in program history. She graduated as Murray State’s all-time leader in assists, free throws made, games played and minutes played.
In 2018, Guffey was inducted into the Murray State Athletics Hall of Fame. She is one of seven women’s basketball players to have earned a spot in the Racer Hall of Fame. Guffey will join former Racer greats Sheila Smith and Ashley Hayes as having their jerseys retired by Murray State.

After her playing career was complete, Guffey joined Rechelle Turner’s first coaching staff at Murray State as an assistant coach in 2017. Before returning to her alma mater, Guffey spent two years under Turner at Murray High, helping the Lady Tigers win a 2016 All-A Classic state championship and earn a pair of trips to the Kentucky High School state semifinals in 2016 and 2017.
