For many college basketball fans, “transfer portal” has become their new favorite four-letter word. In a time of player-empowerment, student-athletes have more control than ever when it comes to where they play from one year to the next. The byproduct of that is those players seem to spend less and less time at each school making it harder for a true connection with the fan base to grow roots.
