Jones hoping to win NBA title with Denver

Murray State Hall of Famer Popeye Jones is four wins away from earning his first NBA championship ring. Jones, in his second-season as an assistant with Denver, helped the Nuggets wrap up a sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night in the NBA Western Conference Finals.
After his All-American career at Murray State, Jones played for 11 seasons in the NBA. He began his coaching career as a player development coach in Dallas in 2008. After three seasons with the Mavericks, he’s spent the last 13 years as an assistant coach in Brooklyn, Indiana, Philadelphia, and now Denver.
The Nuggets are looking to win their first-ever NBA championship. They’ll play the winner of the Boston/Miami Eastern Conference Finals series.
Game 1 of the NBA Finals is Thursday, June 1st.
