McCrear commits to Division II Lewis
MBB: The former Racer spent two seasons at Murray State
Former Murray State forward John McCrear has announced on X that he will continue his college basketball at Division II Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, about 35 miles southwest of Chicago.
McCrear finally got healthy this past season after struggling with injuries since the end of his high school career. He missed most of his senior season at Woodford County High School in 2022-23 with a nagging knee injury. He did play sparingly in the final 11 games of that season, helping the Yellow Jackets earn a spot in the Kentucky state semifinals.
Those knee issues lingered for him once he came to Murray State. McCrear redshirted the 2023-24 season, his freshman season with the Racers. Once he was finally fully cleared last summer, he played in four games this past season for a total of five minutes. While McCrear did not score this year, he did grab two rebounds for the Racers.
The 6’8 forward now goes to a Lewis program that finished 17-11 last season.
