Murray State Scouting Report
Riding a six-game winning streak, the Racers are one win away from clinching at least a share of their first Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship. If the Racers win and Missouri State loses at home to Bradley, Murray State would win the title outright.
Katelyn Young has been on a roll for the Racers in the last few weeks. Murray State’s all-time leading scorer is averaging 25.0 points per game over the last five games, while shooting 53.9% from the field.
Young (21.7 PPG), Halli Poock (16.9 PPG), Haven Ford (15.3 PPG) Ava Learn (13.8 PPG) are the Racers’ four leading scorers. They remain the only foursome in the country on one team to all average at least 13.8 points per game.
One Racer coming off the bench to watch is junior guard Briley Pena. She is shooting 37.3% from beyond the arc this season. When Pena makes at least three three-pointers in a game this season, the Racers are 7-0.
Indiana State Scouting Report
As hot as the Racers are coming into this game, Indiana State is just as cold. The Sycamores have dropped seven in a row, and have lost 22 of their last 24 games.
Indiana State is ranked #347 of 353 teams in the country in scoring defense, as the Sycamores allow 76.8 points per game. They are a below-average team defending the three-point line, giving up 31.5% from beyond the arc. In conference play, the Sycamores have the #12 scoring defense.
The Sycamores are led in scoring by Bella Finnegan and Keslyn Secrist, who both average 13.4 points per game. Indiana State has the #8 scoring offense in Valley play.
I’ll have a ‘Ride Home’ posted after the game.
