Payne signs with the Pacers
MBB: The Murray State Hall of Famer has inked a training camp deal with Indiana
The Indiana Pacers announced on Thursday they’ve signed former Murray State standout Cameron Payne to a training camp contract. Payne will wear #15 with the Pacers.
The Murray State Hall of Famer spent last season with the New York Knicks on a one-year veteran minimum deal. He appeared in 72 regular-season games, mostly off the bench, averaging 6.9 points per game. During the playoffs, his scoring dropped to 2.1 points per game as the Knicks advanced to the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals.
As he prepares for his 11th professional season, Payne now joins his eighth NBA team.
After winning their first preseason game on Tuesday, the Pacers will be back in action Saturday at home against Oklahoma City. With Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton out for the season as he recovers from a torn Achilles, Payne is hoping to provide some veteran point guard depth for the Pacers.
I thought it said Racers instead of Pacers, I was really confused at first
