Pearson says he holds Murray State offer
MBB: The Nashville product is a 3-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class
Trey Pearson, a 2026 point guard recruit from Nashville, posted on X that he has received a scholarship offer from Murray State.
After missing the first part of last season recovering from a broken foot, Pearson averaged better than 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals per game for Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He helped lead his team to a 27-5 record this past year, which included a trip to the Division II-AA state quarterfinals. Pearson also earned All-State honors from both the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State Team as well as the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee.
Pearson was being recruited by the former staff at Murray State, and now new Racer Head Coach Ryan Miller’s staff has followed that up with an offer.
PrepHoops has listed Pearson as the #1 prospect in Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting class. 247 Sports also has him listed as a 3-star recruit.
Along with Murray State, Pearson has posted on his X account that he has received offers from Southeast Missouri State, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Cal State Bakersfield and Chattanooga.
If Pearson makes the decision to choose Murray State, it’ll be the same decision his father made more than 20 years ago. The elder Trey Pearson started his collegiate career at Mississippi in 2002-03. After transferring to Murray State and having to sit out a season, Pearson started 44 of 56 games for the Racers for Head Coach Mick Cronin from 2004-2006. He earned 2005 First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, and helped Murray State make a trip to the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
