Pearson takes official visit to Murray State
MBB: The Nashville product is the #1 player in Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting class
Trey Pearson reposted a report on X Sunday afternoon saying he was in Murray, Kentucky this weekend taking his official visit with the Racers.
The 2026 point guard prospect out of Nashville was recruited by the last staff at Murray State, before new head coach Ryan Miller’s staff offered Pearson a scholarship back in late May.
After missing the first part of the 2024-25 season recovering from a broken foot, Pearson averaged better than 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals per game for Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He helped lead his team to a 27-5 record this past year, which included a trip to the Division II-AA state quarterfinals. Pearson also earned All-State honors from both the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as well as the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee.

PrepHoops has listed Pearson as the #1 prospect in Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting class. 247 Sports also has him listed as a 3-star recruit.
Since he picked up his Murray State offer back in late May, Pearson has posted on his X account that he’s received scholarship offers from Tulsa, Arkansas State, Sacramento State, UIC, High Point, UT Arlington, Ball State, Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee and Southern Illinois.
If Pearson makes the decision to choose Murray State, it’ll be the same decision his father made more than 20 years ago. The elder Trey Pearson started his collegiate career at Mississippi in 2002-03. After transferring to Murray State and having to sit out a season, Pearson started 44 of 56 games for the Racers for Head Coach Mick Cronin from 2004-2006. He earned 2005 First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, and helped Murray State make a trip to the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
