Racers announce home game with Nicholls
MBB: This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1990

Murray State has officially announced they will host Nicholls on November 15th at the CFSB Center. Rocco Miller from Bracketeer.org originally reported this game back on June 27th.
This will be just the third time these schools have met, and the first since 1990. Murray State and the program formerly known as Nicholls State played a home-and-home series during the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons. The Racers won both of those meetings with Steve Newton as head coach.
Nicholls ended up 20-13 overall last season, finishing in third place in the Southland Conference, while handing eventual champ McNeese their only loss in conference play. The Colonels finished the year ranked #167 in KenPom and #171 in the NET. BartTorvik.com, that has already released their projections for the 2025-26 season, has Nicholls ranked #275 when taking into account the roster changes for the upcoming season.
The only three pieces of the puzzle left for the Racers to complete their schedule remain announcing their home exhibition game, releasing the date for the home game with Little Rock, and finding out the opponent for the Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase.
Here’s how this season’s non-conference schedule looks at this moment:
October 18th — at Xavier (Exhibition)
TBA — Home exhibition game
TBA — Home vs. Little Rock (Back end of a home-and-home series that started in 2023-24)
November 3 — vs. TBA (in Sioux Falls, SD at The Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase)
November 7 — vs. Mississippi Valley State
November 11 — at SMU

November 25 — vs. George Washington (Cayman Islands Classic)

The Missouri Valley’s conference schedule likely won’t be released until closer to September.
