Organizers of the Daytona Beach Classic have announced Murray State’s two opponents when the Racers head south Thanksgiving week.
The Racers will face George Mason on November 28th at 12:30pm CST, and then get Boston College on November 29th at 10:00am CST. Here is some background on both of those teams.
November 28th vs. George Mason
Last season: 27-6 overall, 14-4 in the Atlantic 10
2024-25 NCAA NET Ranking: #45
Coming off their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, George Mason is a potential Quad 1 game for the Racers. The Patriots won the A-10 Tournament championship and earned an 11-seed to the NCAA Tournament.
George Mason will return their two top scorers from last season: Zahirah Walton (14.8 PPG) and Kennedy Harris (13.9 PPG).
November 29th vs. Boston College
Last season: 16-18 overall, 6-12 in the ACC
2024-25 NCAA NET Ranking: #74
The Eagles struggled last year in the challenging ACC, but still earned a berth in the WBIT, where they lost to Villanova in the opening round. This season will be a complete rebuild for BC. Of the 13 players who scored for the Eagles last season, only one is returning: Athena Tomlinson — and she averaged 2.2 points per game. If Boston College can stay in the Top 100 of the NET, they’ll be at least a Quad 2 opportunity for the Racers.
