Murray State beat SIUE, 104-60, in the Racers’ season-opener on Thursday night. Here’s what you need to know:

  • With the win, the Racers improve to 1-0 on the season. It’s the first time since 2018 that Murray State opened the year with a win over a Division I team.

  • Murray State’s 104 points were the most scored in the first game of the season in program history.

  • Katelyn Young recorded the 42nd double-double of her career with 23 points and ten rebounds.

  • The Racers made 14-of-34 three-pointers (41.2%) in the game. In records dating back to 2002-03, it’s the first time Murray State has shot that high of a percentage in a game with at least 34 three-point attempts.

  • Murray State dished out assists on 28 of their 38 made field goals, while turning the ball over just 12 times.

  • The Racers turned 27 SIUE turnovers into 27 points.

  • Murray State returns to action Tuesday when they host Southern Indiana.
