Report: Murray State to host Nicholls
MBB: This will be the first meeting between the schools since 1990
Rocco Miller, from Bracketeer.org, is reporting Murray State will host Nicholls on November 15th at the CFSB Center. The Racers will be “buying” the Colonels to bring them to Murray.
This will be just the third time these schools have met, and the first since 1990. Murray State and the program formerly known as Nicholls State played a home-and-home series during the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons. The Racers won both of those meetings with Steve Newton as head coach.
Nicholls ended up 20-13 overall last season, finishing in third place in the Southland Conference, while handing eventual champ McNeese their only loss in conference play. The Colonels finished the year ranked #167 in KenPom and #171 in the NET. BartTorvik.com, that has already released their projections for the 2025-26 season, has Nicholls ranked #275 when taking into account the roster changes for the upcoming season.
Here’s how this season’s non-conference schedule looks at this moment:
TBA — Home vs. Little Rock (Back end of a home-and-home series that started in 2023-24)
November 3 — vs. TBA (in Sioux Falls, SD at The Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase)
November 7 — vs. Mississippi Valley State
November 11 — at SMU
November 15 — vs. Nicholls
November 23 — vs. Middle Tennessee (Cayman Islands Classic)
November 24 — vs. McNeese (Cayman Islands Classic)
November 25 — vs. George Washington (Cayman Islands Classic)
December 2 — vs. Morehead State
December 13 — vs. Akron (in Henderson, Nevada at the Jack Jones Classic)
With 20 conference games, Murray State still has one non-conference game left to be announced to complete their slate for next season. The Missouri Valley’s conference schedule likely won’t be released until closer to September.
Did coach say we were playing 2 exhibitions one home an one road?
Do you think that last nonconfrence game going to be a division one opponent? An when do you think we will get the date for the little rock game?
