Report: VerHulst joining Racer staff
MBB: He has spent the last four seasons working for Penny Hardaway at Memphis
The Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that Memphis Director of Basketball Operations Jordan VerHulst will be joining Ryan Miller’s first staff at Murray State.
VerHulst has had two stints at Memphis. From 2009-14, he was a graduate assistant and video coordinator under former head coach Josh Pastner. After leaving Memphis in 2014, VerHulst spent time at Auburn, Chipola Junior College, Division II Grand Valley State and the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA G League.
Upon returning to Memphis in 2021, VerHulst spent three years as the Director of Scouting for Tiger Head Coach Penny Hardaway, before being named Director of Basketball Operations this past season.
Earlier this week, Miller said he needed to hire an assistant coach to fill an ‘offensive coordinator’ role on his staff, but it is unclear at this time if that will be the position VerHulst will be taking. Miller will not have any comment on his newest staff member until all the administrative hoops are jumped through to make VerHulst’s hiring official.
