Rocco: Murray State is one of the offseason winners
MBB: The scheduling guru believes the Racers are set up for a big season

As the number of hours gets smaller before the opening day of the 2025-26 college basketball season, the preseason attention Murray State continues to attract just gets bigger.
Rocco Miller, who covers scheduling and bracketology for Bracketeer.org, writes a weekly column highlighting the ‘Teams of the Week’ for BasketUnderReview.com. Days before the start of the new season, Miller put a spotlight on the teams who seemed to have had a big offseason, and the Racers were front and center on that list.

In his column, Miller wrote:
“New (head coach) Ryan Miller has completely helped rejuvenate the trajectory and overall future for Racers’ Basketball. A quick look at the roster build, and its quite clear that a fundraising plan was well in order as part of this transition. This team is ready to win right now. There are not many teams left (sadly) in the non-power ranks that can realistically advance in the NCAA Tournament, but this roster potential sure has “it.”
Murray State will take their first step toward what they hope is ultimately a trip to the NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Racers will challenge the Omaha Mavericks at 12:30pm in The Field of 68’s Opening Day Marathon. You’ll be able to stream the game on The Field of 68’s X and YouTube channels.
