MBB: The 6'3 guard from Iowa is the first official addition to the Racers for 2026-27
Navon Shabazz, a 6-3 guard from Des Moines, Iowa, has signed to join Murray State for the 2026-27 season. Shabazz is the first signing in Head Coach Ryan Miller’s 2026 recruiting class.
“We’re pretty excited about him,” Miller said. “(He) plays for one of the best prep programs in the country, Iowa United. They have an unbelievable program there. He’s a combo guard, able to make three-point shots, able to play with the basketball in his hand playing pick and roll. We’re very excited about him and his future with our program.”

In his sophomore season in 2023-24, Shabazz was an Iowa All-State selection and helped Davenport Assumption High School win the Iowa Class 3A State Championship for the first time in 24 years.
At this moment, here’s how Murray State’s roster will look for the 2026-27 season:
Brayden Shorter — Senior guard
Dylan Anderson — Senior forward
Ben Shtolzberg — Redshirt senior guard
Brock Vice — Junior forward
Layne Taylor — Junior guard
KJ Tenner — Junior guard
Roman Domon — Sophomore forward
Mathis Courbon — Sophomore guard
Tristian Ford — Redshirt freshman guard
