Shabazz says he will be a Racer
MBB: The 6'4 guard is the first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class

Navon Shabazz, listed as a 3-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class, posted on X Friday night that he has committed to play for the Racers. Shabazz is the first commitment in the 2026 class for Murray State Head Coach Ryan Miller.
The 6’4 guard, who plays for Iowa United Prep in Des Moines, Iowa, originally committed to Iowa back in September. After the coaching change with the Hawkeyes, Shabazz reopened his recruitment. Since May, he’s had offers from Penn, Seton Hall, Buffalo, Bowling Green, UIC, Purdue Fort Wayne, East Tennessee State and Kennesaw State. Miller and his staff offered Shabazz in mid-May, and on Friday, he decided he wanted to be a Racer.
247 Sports has Shabazz ranked as the #5 player in the state of Iowa in the 2026 recruiting class.
Here are some highlights of Shabazz from last season with Iowa United Prep.
With five seniors on this year’s roster, Miller still has at least four spots he’ll need to fill for the 2026-27 season.
