Shtolzberg likely to miss 2-4 weeks with foot injury
MBB: JJ Traynor is also not expected to play in Sunday's exhibition

Murray State Head Coach Ryan Miller clarified the injury status of senior guard Ben Shtolzberg during Tuesday’s Missouri Valley Conference Media Day. Shtolzberg is dealing with a stress reaction in his foot, and was unable to play in Saturday’s exhibition at Xavier. At this point, his prognosis is leaning toward him having to miss the start of the regular season.
“He’s probably on a little more serious timeline of probably two-to-four weeks before he can get on the court and start doing things.”
Shtolzberg started his career at Creighton, before spending the last two seasons at UC Santa Barbara.

Senior forward JJ Traynor also did not play in the Xavier exhibition as he’s dealing with a shoulder injury. During yesterday’s recording of ‘The Racer Report Live’, Miller said would be getting an MRI done on his shoulder later in the day. That MRI hasn’t happened yet, and that likely means we won’t see Traynor this weekend in the final exhibition against Northern State.
"(The MRI) is going to be sometime this week,” Miller said. “He’s basically day-to-day, depending on how the MRI results are. We’ll monitor that situation and see how it goes. I don’t expect him to play Sunday, just because it’s an exhibition game. We’re trending towards our start date, which is November 3rd.”
The Racers will open the regular season in 13 days in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against Omaha in The Field of 68’s Opening Day Marathon.
