Smith drops 30 in playoff win in Latvia
MBB: The former Racer guard also chipped in with ten assists in the win
Former Murray State guard DaQuan Smith scored 30 points and dished out 10 assists in Valmeira Glass’ 97-83 Game 1 win in the Latvian Basketball League’s consolation round.
In the first game of the Best-of-5 series with Rigas Zelli, Smith knocked down 8-of-12 three-pointers. After Valmeira Glass was knocked out of the championship bracket two weeks ago, they’re now playing for 3rd Place in the LBL playoffs. Game 2 is set for Saturday. Smith has averaged 13.9 points this season in Latvia, shooting 41.1% from three-point range.
Here are some highlights from the game:

Smith spent four years at Murray State from 2018-22. He played in just three games in the 2018-19 season before a foot injury derailed his season. After earning a medical redshirt, he played three more years with the Racers, starting 38 games in all. Smith scored 458 points and dished out 152 assists in his 93 games in a Murray State uniform.
After the end of the 2021-22 season, Smith transferred to Radford as he joined former Racer assistant Shane Nichols. Smith’s career blossomed at Radford, as he took advantage of the extra COVID year and averaged 14.4 points in his two seasons with the Highlanders. Smith earned 2nd Team All-Big South honors in each of his two seasons at Radford.
