SMU’s Jaron Pierre Jr. has announced he is withdrawing from the NBA Draft, which means the senior guard will be in a Mustang uniform when Murray State travels to Dallas to play SMU on November 11.
Murray State and SMU played the front end of their home-and-home series on December 22, 2023 at the CFSB Center. The second game in Dallas was pushed back a season in part due to a coaching change at SMU.
Pierre Jr. was the Conference USA Player of the Year last season at Jacksonville State after he averaged 21.6 points and grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 38.2% from three-point range for the Gamecocks. The 6’5 guard scored a season-high 36 points against Middle Tennessee while knocking down ten three-pointers, and he scored in double-figures in 35 of 36 games last year. Pierre Jr. will be the leading returning scorer in the country next season.

Last season, under first-year head coach Andy Enfield, SMU finished 24-11 overall and made the second round of the NIT.
