Texas Tech ends Drake's season, 77-64
MBB: The Missouri Valley Conference champions end the year at 31-4
Texas Tech’s Darrion Williams scored 28 points and JT Toppin tossed in 25 more to lead the Red Raiders to a 77-64 win over Drake in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament in Wichita.
This will be Texas Tech’s seventh trip to the Sweet 16.
After trailing by as many as six in the first half, the Red Raiders took the lead, 22-20 with 8:46 remaining. They would never trail again. Texas Tech’s 37 first half points were the most points Drake had given up in the first half this season.
Bennett Stirtz scored 21 points, on 9-of-19 shooting, and added eight assists for the Bulldogs. Daniel Abreu hit five three-pointers for Drake as he finished with 15 points.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a record of 31-4.
