As Yoda, one of the great philosophers in any galaxy, once said: “Do or do not. There is no try.”

It’s easy to look at the coaching profession, and sports in general, as boiled down to a binary result: Did you win or lose? After nearly three decades of coaching at both the high school and collegiate level, Murray State Women’s Basketball Coach Rechelle Turner has taken many of her coaching philosophies and tossed them to the side this season. For the first time in her career, Turner’s team won’t be focused on precision and fundamentals, but instead will be reliant on speed and creating chaos on both offense and defense. With the new system Turner and her staff are implementing this season, she is working on encouraging a culture of ‘try.’
