Valparaiso has hired Courtney Boyd as their new women’s basketball coach. Boyd replaces Mary Evans who spent the last seven years coaching the Beacons.
This will be Boyd’s first Division I head coaching job. In her eight seasons as a college head coach, Boyd has an overall record of 190-68 (.736). She has won 20 or more games in seven of her eight seasons. Boyd spent the last two seasons at Division II Quincy University, after six years as the head coach at NAIA Clarke University.
"I could not be more thrilled to welcome Courtney and her family to Valpo," Valpo Director of Athletics Laurel Hosmer said in a statement. "She's a proven builder and winner and will be a game-changing leader for our women's basketball program. Courtney is a perfect fit for Valpo and our vision for the team. The culture she creates and the results she produces, both on and off the court, speak for themselves. The future is extremely bright for Beacon basketball."
Boyd led Clarke to the NAIA Tournament in her final five years with the school, winning a national championship in 2023. After leading Clarke to the title, Boyd moved onto Quincy, where she led the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament this past season.
Valparaiso will hold an introductory news conference for Boyd on Monday, April 14th.
