Williams signs contract with Thunder
MBB: The former OVC Player of the Year played with OKC in the Summer League

Brandon Rahbar of DailyThunder.com is reporting the Oklahoma City Thunder has signed rookie free agent KJ Williams to their preseason roster. The former Murray State great played with the Thunder in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He averaged 8.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during his summer stint.
Williams is part of the Thunder’s 21-man preseason roster, but it is highly unlikely he will make Oklahoma City’s opening day roster. This move was likely made to retain his contractual rights to be able to send him to OKC’s G League team. The Oklahoma City Blue will start their season on November 10th.
After earning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year honors in 2022 at Murray State, Williams transferred to LSU for his fifth collegiate season. He averaged 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals with the Tigers as he was named Second Team All-SEC.
