Young named an MVC Scholar-Athlete
WBB: The senior forward has a 3.78 GPA in Organizational Communications

Murray State senior forward Katelyn Young was named to the Missouri Valley Conference’s All Scholar-Athlete 2nd Team on Tuesday. Young is carrying a 3.78 GPA in Organizational Communications.
Drake’s Anna Miller was named the MVC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A list of all 22 honorees can be found here.
According to the conference, the criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America nominations. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. [The 12-month residency requirement for undergraduate transfers is no longer required.] An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and a graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don’t have an established graduate GPA.
Young is one of six players in the country to be averaging at least 19.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game this season.
Murray State will play Bradley in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday at 8:30pm in Moline, Illinois.
