WBB: The senior forward averaged 29.0 points per game in two wins last week

The Missouri Valley Conference named Katelyn Young the Player of the Week, after Young led the Racers to wins at Evansville and Indiana State last week.
Against Evansville, Young scored 31 points on 13-of-16 shooting in Murray State’s 88-60 win over the Purple Aces.
On Saturday, the senior forward helped the Racers clinch a share of their first-ever Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship with a 109-70 win at Indiana State. Against the Sycamores, Young scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists. She’s the first player this season, and just the eighth player in the last 23 years, to have a 27-7-6 stat line in 26 minutes or fewer.
With 2,946 points in her career, Young is now ranked 18th on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list.
Young and Murray State will open Missouri Valley Conference Tournament play on Friday at 12:00pm against the winner of Thursday’s Bradley vs. Valparaiso matchup. The Valley’s tournament is being held at Evansville’s Ford Center this season.
