MacAllister gets first head coaching job
MBB: The former Racer student manager was most recently an assistant at WKU
Tim MacAllister has been named head coach at the College of Coastal Georgia, an NAIA program in Brunswick, Georgia. This is MacAllister’s first head coaching position.
MacAllister got his start in basketball at Murray State, where he spent three seasons as a student manager from 2010 to 2013 under Billy Kennedy and Steve Prohm.
Before Murray State played at Western Kentucky last December, MacAllister joined The Racer Basketball Podcast to talk about his coaching journey. You can listen to that here.

After leaving Murray State in 2013, MacAllister got his first assistant coaching job at Division III Emory. He then spent two years at Creighton as video coordinator and three years at Texas Tech as Chief of Staff. MacAllister got his first Division I assistant coaching job at Georgia Southern in 2020, as he spent three seasons there working alongside former Murray State guard Chris Shumate. The last two seasons, MacAllister was on staff at Western Kentucky.
"I am honored and excited to be the next Head Men's Basketball Coach at the College of Coastal Georgia," MacAllister said in a statement. "I'd like to thank Dr. Evans and Zack Rogers for their belief in me to lead this program forward. The leadership, location and thriving community all make this a great opportunity to build a championship program. My wife Ashley, my children Zeke and Addie are all fired up to get to Brunswick and get started. Go Mariners!"
MacAllister is the third head coach in program history.
